Two men believed to be responsible for robbing Dollar General, 1265 Iris Drive, Conyers, are in police custody following information given to Conyers Police by an alert witness. Jahii Ellison, 21 of Conyers, was charged with robbery and Quentin Bussell, 32, Jonesboro, was charged with making false statements in connection to the robbery that took place on Thursday, Feb. 9. Georgia Piedmont Technical College (GPTC) and Clark Atlanta University (CAU) have agreed to offer dual admissions and joint enrollment for qualified students at both institutions. The two schools plan to announce the launch of the historic partnership on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 10:30 a.m. in the Robert W. Woodruff Library Exhibition Hall at Clark Atlanta University, 111 James P. Lowe’s has donated $500,000 to the United Negro College Fund’s 37 historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to award emergency student aid to financially needy graduating seniors.  The emergency aid will help students with unanticipated circumstances such as the loss of a parent’s job. Rockdale County Magistrate Judge Phinia Aten is set to perform about a dozen weddings on Valentine’s Day, Feb.14, from 1 to 4:30 p.m., in the Magistrate Courtroom located at 948 Bank Street, Conyers. “So far, we have 11 weddings confirmed and two pending requests.
