DECATUR, GA– Livingstone Place, between East College Avenue and Craigie Avenue, will be closed to through-traffic 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday – Friday, Sept. 9-30 to facilitate a watermain replacement at 718 Livingstone Place. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions. Updated Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024 ATLANTA—Georgia leaders are sending up prayers and expressing an outpouring of support in the wake of the deadly mass shooting today (Sept. 4) at Apalachee High School in Winder, GA. Winder is located about 50 miles east of Atlanta in Barrow County. Two students and two teachers were killed and 9 others were hospitalized—eight students and teachers–in the incident. ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA—The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying the skeletal remains of a man found in December 2010. The unidentified man’s remains were found in Conyers. Above the remains was a hose tied into a noose and beside it was a chair turned on its side. The male is believed to be between 15 and 27 years old. Investigators released a forensic sketch of the person.

Officials announce Sept. 29 Move Day schedule, release video showcasing new facility ATLANTA – Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta will undertake a significant logistical feat on Sunday, Sept. 29 – moving all patients from Egleston Hospital to the new Arthur M. Blank Hospital, located in Brookhaven, in a single day. ATLANTA, GA – The Georgia Foundation for Early Care + Learning is joining the Georgia Foundation for Public Education(GFPE) this fall in offering 20 $5,000 mini grants to rural elementary schools partnering with childcare programs to help students transition into pre-k and kindergarten. To receive the Early Literacy Alignment Mini-Grant, the schools must show how they collaborate with the childcare programs to vertically align their early literacy practices to assist young students.
