ATLANTA, GA – Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced today that MARTA is one of 24 transit authorities nationwide receiving a Regional Innovative Accelerator program (RIA) grant from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. MARTA’s $1.75 million grant is part of $24 million in transit grants awarded to local and city governments, and state agencies throughout the county. ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA– Rockdale County Animal Services Division will hold an unveiling ceremony for its new adoption trailer on Monday, Nov. 6, 9:30 a.m. at the Rockdale County Animal Shelter, 1506 Rockbridge Road, Conyers.  The new adoption trailer will help to  enhance the adoption capabilities for the division. Crews are also assessing the water system in the area. STONE MOUNTAIN, GA— More than 100 volunteers representing UnitedHealthcare, KABOOM! and the City of Stone Mountain came together to build a new playground at Leila Mason Park in the city’s historic Shermantown. The build day project was part of United Healthcare’s “Do Good. Live Well.” initiative, dedicated to fighting obesity by improving social determinants of health. DEKALB COUNTY, GA—Two brothers—Edrick Agee, 35, of Forest Park, and Treon Fortson, 41 of Riverdale—were found guilty on Tuesday, Oct. 24, in a case involving a series of violent armed robberies where they targeted victims at apartment complexes along Buford Highway in Brookhaven. The robberies took place from Dec. 13, 2019 through Jan. 24, 2020. DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston announced the convictions by jury trial.
