STONECREST, GA—The City of Stonecrest will accept applications for tis residential and business assistance programs now though Monday, May 22. The City Council approved the deadline extension at its April 10 work session. This extension will provide more time for residents and small businesses to review and complete the application process. Individuals who already applied for the support programs do not need to submit new applications. DEKALB COUNTY, GA – The DeKalb County School Board voted today (April 19) to hire Dr. Devon Horton as the next superintendent of the DeKalb County School District.The board confirmed the selection of Horton, who was the board’s sole finalist, as the new superintendent in a 6-1 vote. Joyce Morley cast the dissenting vote. Congressman Hank Johnson (Georgia District 4) is seeking summer interns for his office in Decatur. The internships are open to college students or recent graduates who live in the Fourth Congressional District. Interns may be asked to do a variety of things, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters, and assisting with media clips. Update: The Gwinnett County Police has arrested Jose Antonio Cruz with the help of the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office. Sandy Springs Police Department arrested Tabitha Katurhia Weaver.
