ATLANTA—The Natural Resources Conservation Workshop (NRCW) is now accepting registration applications for Georgia’s Rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. The 2023 NRCW will take place June 11-16 on the campus of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia. This workshop focuses on the value, protection, and conservation of Georgia’s wildlife, forestry, soil and water resources, including conservation in Georgia’s mining industry. The workshop gives students to a college campus while providing insight into careers through their counselors and instructors. DECATUR, GA—Vista Brook Drive, between McLendon Drive and Vista Way, will be closed to through-traffic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, to facilitate a large crane removal of a tree at 3123 Vista Brook Drive, Decatur 30033. STONECREST GA – Beginning Monday, March 20, the City of Stonecrest will start accepting applications for its residential and small business assistance programs, which are funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). These programs are designed to assist Stonecrest residents and small business owners who experienced a financial hardship during the pandemic. ATLANTA—The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) is partnering with Indeed.com to host a virtual job fair for HERO Operator Trainees in the metro Atlanta area. Georgia DOT HERO operators play a very important role in ensuring the safety of motorists on metro Atlanta’s busy interstates. HEROs are dispatched to traffic-related incidents in metro Atlanta with the primary duty to clear roads so that normal traffic flow is restored. DECATUR, GA—On Monday, March 20, DeKalb County will launch the Celia Way Water Line Replacement Project. Crews will replace 400 linear feet of crumbling water lines with new 36-inch-diameter water lines along Celia Way. This line repair project is expected to last approximately two months (March 2023 to May 2023), barring any weather delays. Normal construction hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays. An increase in construction-related noise and traffic during work hours should be expected. CONYERS, GA—The Conyers Police Department (CPD) is preparing to offer a Citizen’s Police Academy once again for citizens this spring. The six-week academy will be offered on Tuesdays beginning April 18, 6 p.m. Each session will last two hours, from 6 to 8 p.m., 8and most sessions will take place in the Conyers Police Department training room at 1194 Scott Street. DECATUR, GA– Efforts to improve water service capacity throughout DeKalb County continue on Monday, May 1, with the launch of the Green Forrest Water Line Replacement Project.
