Video: Jazzmin Randall Cobble is sworn in as Mayor of Stonecrest, GA June 17, 2022
The thunderstorms dissipated, ushering in a pleasant, cool relief from the scorching heat just in time for Jazzmin R. Cobble to be sworn in as mayor of the City of Stonecrest on Friday, June 17, 2022. The Philadelphia native made history, becoming the first female and second mayor of Stonecrest, DeKalb County, Georgia’s largest city boasting nearly 60,000 residents. Cobble also made history in 2017 when she became part of the inaugural City Council, elected as the first District 3 representative.
DeKalb County Superior Court Judge LaTisha Dear Jackson swore in Cobble as mayor. Cobble was flanked by her husband, David, and their son, Mason. The event was held in the parking lot of the former Sam’s Club with several dignitaries in attendance including Congressman Hank Johnson.
After the swearing-in ceremony, Cobble thanked her family, supporters and city staff and pledged:
“The best is yet to come for the City of Stonecrest. Our goal from Day 1 was to be a world-class city. This time, we want to make sure it’s with a connected community each of us— every citizen, every business owner and this government playing our role and ensuring that we realize the potential that we all know that Stonecrest has.
