DECATUR, GA– Efforts to improve water service capacity throughout DeKalb County continue Monday, April 3, with the launch of the Keswick Drive Water Line Replacement Project. Crews will replace 450 linear feet of crumbling water lines with new 8-inch-diameter ductile-iron water lines along Keswick Drive. This line repair project is expected to last approximately one month (April 2023 to May 2023), barring any weather delays. DEKALB COUNTY, GA– The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit, with the U.S. Marshal’s Office, announced an arrest in the Jan. 10 death of a 17-year-old during an armed robbery outside of a gas station on Snapfinger Woods Drive in Decatur. On Tuesday, March 28, authorities located Quavion Hale, 18, of Stonecrest, Georgia and took him into custody without incident  on charges of shooting Akhir Muhammad, 17, in the back, causing his death. Council member Bessie Marks, of Decatur, recently donated not one but two boxes of assorted cereals, fruits, chips, snacks, and a toy fire truck to DeKalb County’s Fire Station #16, located on Flat Shoals Road in Decatur.
